This pre-authorization is a blocked amount that is not deducted from the card unless there are charges added on your contract after you have returned the Thrifty vehicle. Traffic Fines are the most common charges that appear late on the contract. Please note the credit card used must have a minimum validity of 6 months remaining before expiry date.
There will no refund from Thrifty since the blocked amount is not charged. It takes up to 29 days for the block to be released after which the amount will again become available for use. The number of days may be lesser depending on your bank.
You may receive a message from your bank when the money is blocked, but the amount is not debited from the account. Since only actual charges reflect on credit card statements, blocking or release of the security amount will not be a part of the statement.
